"DEVINE" INTERVENTION AT MISS VELVET PAGEANT!
Velvet Nightclub declares its entrant for Miss Ireland .
Julie Devine was crowned the first ever Miss Velvet Nightclub at a glamour-packed pageant final in Velvet on Sunday 27 th May. Julie will represent North County Dublin's hottest nightspot at the Miss Ireland Final in Cork on 30 th June 2007.
An eclectic mix of beauties and talents were selected for the final including a barrister, a sergeant's daughter, a teacher, a make-up artist and a farmer's daughter but it was 98FM's promotions girl Julie Devine that reigned supreme winning the hearts of the judges to take the title.
An Irish dancing fan, the 21 year-old from Killiney is a former captain of the Irish International Basketball team and is currently studying beauty therapy with a dream to someday open her own salon. But such plans will now go on hold as she prepares to compete on a national level for the coveted title of Miss Ireland 2007.
A host of well known faces were lined up as judges for the heats namely: Aslan's Billy McGuinness and Tony McGuinness , Sinead O'Carroll (formerly of B*Witched ), Aongus Ralston (Picturehouse), Actress & Ozzy's Daughter in Law Louise Osbourne , Club Manager Tara Sinnott , RTE's Brian Ormond and Mickey Joe Harte while judges for the final included Katy French , Eoin Murphy from The Sun Newspaper , Model Brian Fallon , Fair City/Jigs n Reels' Sorcha Furlong , Hair stylist-to-the-stars Michael Doyle and the current Miss Ireland Sarah Morrissey.
Said Julie, "I'm absolutely thrilled to bits! The competition tonight was fierce and I don't think any of us felt confident of a win but I'm here now and I'm loving it!" As well as taking home the title of Miss Velvet, Julie was also presented with a prize package worth €5,000 which included:
